GIMP - free Photo/Graphics editor and minipulation software

GIMP is a free Photo/Graphics editor and minipulation software. It is a pwerful program and you can do the same things on it as you can on the $200-$800 adobe photoshop software.
In their own words, "GIMP is our answer to the current lack of free (or at least reasonably priced) image manipulation software ."
It is a raster editor, which means that it performs operations directly on the pixels that make up the image, and not a vector editor.
